Born in 1955 in Bogotá, Colombia, Nano began his artistic journey at the age of 23, working as an apprentice on monumental-scale carvings in marble and granite, as well as fabricating steel. In 1983, he moved to the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Over the next four years, he worked at various bronze foundries in the region, further developing his skills in welding, tooling, and patinas. This experience helped shape him into the artist we admire today._x000D_

In his artistic process, Nano integrates organic textures with synthetic and man-made objects in his bronze sculptures, creating works that reflect the same depth and richness he perceives in the world around him. Though colorful and whimsical, his work is far from child’s play and invites careful, sustained observation. The intricate textures and vibrant colors subtly evoke his native Colombia and the broader landscape of Latin American art. Yet his deep understanding and imaginative approach transcend cultural and temporal boundaries.
